Voices of Gotham is excited to announce the selection of Larry Bomback as Artistic Director to lead the chorus in a new organizational model designed to develop musical leaders within the chorus and expand the organization’s influence and relevance in New York City. Bomback is a widely successful non-profit arts organization executive, having been employed in operations for four major arts organizations over the course of his career: New York Youth Symphony (Operations Manager), OPERA America (Director Finance and Operations), DataArts (COO / CFO), and, currently, Curtis Institute of Music (SVP of Administration). He was the founding musical director of Voices of Gotham through 2014 and will return in this new role to move the chorus into its next decade of growth.

Bomback succeeds Bill Stauffer, who stepped down as Musical Director in December 2017. As Artistic Director, Bomback is tasked with building and expanding the musical leadership through a variety of means, including pulling in established and burgeoning leaders within the group. He will also continue and drive the successful Arrangers’ Lab, an initiative which fosters new arranging talent through a workshop setting with established arrangers, including those from the Voices of Gotham community like Matt Gallagher, Josh Ehrlich, and Adam Bock.

"I’m humbled that Voices of Gotham has asked me to return to lead the chorus as it enters its second decade,” said Bomback  “Bill Stauffer brought the group to new vocal heights I never imagined possible in such a short period of time. I look forward to building upon the exceptional foundation that he and others have laid over the past few years, and continuing the tradition of musical excellence and spirited creative momentum at the core of this ensemble.”

“We are so thrilled to have Larry in this new position to lead our ambitious artistic plans,” said Voices of Gotham President Braden Lynk. “His impressive musical talent combined with extensive non-profit administration acumen is invaluable. Having worked with him previously as Musical Director of Voices of Gotham, I’m excited for the energy and passion he will bring to this role in developing both our future leaders and chapter membership.”

Bomback began singing barbershop in 2001. He currently sings tenor with 'Round Midnight, the 2006 New York Harmony Sweepstakes Champions, 2010 Mid-Atlantic District champions, and 2017 Barbershop Harmony Society international finalist. He previously sang tenor with the 2007 International Collegiate Quartet Champion, Road Trip. In addition to founding Voices of Gotham, he was instrumental in launching two other choruses -- the Sirens of Gotham (SAI) in 2011 and Rittenhouse Sound (BHS) in 2014.

A sought-after consultant to arts organizations nationwide, he currently serves on the Finance and Honorary Membership committees of the Barbershop Harmony Society in Nashville, as well as the Board of Overseers of the National Opera Center in New York, and the Board of Advisors of the National Center for Arts Research at SMU in Dallas.

He is a devoted husband to his wife, Coren, an architect, and a loving father to his two young children, Baylee and Salem.

Voices of Gotham is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit men's chorus whose mission is to celebrate, preserve, and advance the rich American tradition of barbershop harmony. Formed in 2008 and celebrating its 10th year this season, Voices of Gotham is proud to be the Hell's Kitchen, New York Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and is ranked as one of the top ten barbershop choruses worldwide. Voices of Gotham rapidly distinguished itself as one of the country's leading incubators of both new barbershop music and of young musical artists who will shape the continuing evolution and excellence of the barbershop tradition.
